Queen Alexandra's Lady in Waiting, Lady Charlotte Knollys, replies with a private letter to Annie’s request for Queen Alexandra’s official patronage for “Memories of a Militant” (1924). The official letter declines the request, but Lady Knollys informs Annie that “Queen Alexandra will be happy to accept a copy” of her book “but [. . .] that this acceptance must not appear in the Papers or in any form of print.”
