Note on the back reads: “Two [. . .] [. . .], the lower one over Eagle House, Northend, Batheaston, and the upper one over the top of the poplar tree, that was planted at the top of our garden by my father when I was a child to please me, as I had said “Father we haven’t a poplar tree, we ought to have one.” Mary Blathwayt, 20 June 1948. Eagle House is just behind the gabled cottages.”
