Suffragette Stories Transcribe History

as part of Norfolk and the First World War Event

Saturday 3 November 2018, 15.00-16.30, The Forum, Norwich

A 'Hands on History' workshop revealed unique material from the suffragette archives held at the University of East Anglia (UEA). After an introductory talk on the history of the Kenney sisters, Annie and Jessie, participants helped transcribe original letters from Christabel Pankhurst and Lady Constance Lytton to add to a digital exhibition. Alternatively, they could engage in telling your own stories through flash fiction writing and oral history.

Comments from participants included:

'The content was very insteresting and I very much enjoyed transcribing.'

'I attended because of my interest in the suffrage movement and now better understand the role of the suffragettes in WWI. Thank you!'
